Victorian Nursing Chair in Tweed
To celebrate #nationaltweedday we are finally unveiling our lovely little Victorian Nursing chair. She's a total labour of love. As you can see from the photos she's been stripped back in our workshops and completely rebuilt, and then reupholstered in fire-retardant everything, topped off with a gorgeous luxurious Tartan pure wool Tweed in shades of oatmeal, caramel, olive, grey and a cardinal red. It was a magnificent fabric on the roll and even better on the finished product.
The nursing chair was a style introduced by the Victorians - they loved to show off and invented new shapes and designs of furniture to showcase their every activity. This low style of chair is perfect for nursing, and has over the ensuing decades become a popular style of Accent chair. Something small and interesting to elevate a room, and add a different hint of style or colour.
Our version is a Classic already - a Victorian Antique beautifully upholstered in a fabric that is both up-to-the-minute and timeless.. Happy National Tweed Day - after all that work we're putting our feet up!
** measurements given are for whole of chair. For seatpad only it is 46cm deep with width graduating from 35 at rear to 46cm at front
