Vintage Fur Hardwood Stool

A total one-off and unbelievably sexy piece of furniture! This heavy handsome hardwood stool has strong cabriole legs ending in ball and claw feet. From its provenance we believe it to be African hardwood and of midcentury handmade Zimbabwean construction. As is typical of African hardwood, the separate pieces of wood are of subtly different shades. 

The claw feet have an ostrichy look, adding to the unsual Africanness of the piece. Its wooden top had clearly had a chequered career and needed replacing, so we have entirely rebuilt it, giving it an upholstered seat using fire-retardant materials, and finishing off by upcycling the very best section of a Vintage fur coat of approximately the same era. It is now a very comfortable seat, as well as an extraordinarily attractive footstool.

Its not therefore a very Politically Correct piece. We are all animal lovers this end, but it is recycled fur, and we do have to admit that the end result is the most strokeable and sexy stool ever!
